Pokémon TCG Pocket: Where to Play and Compatible Devices
A few days ago, Pokémon TCG Pocket (or TCG in its English acronym) was launched on mobile phones, and it has quickly become a resounding success. In less than 72 hours, it has reached millions of downloads, making it one of the most successful releases of the moment, both in impact and numbers. However, many players have yet to try it out, either because they don’t want to or can’t play on their smartphones. This has led many users to wonder if it’s possible to play Pokémon Pocket on PC or Nintendo Switch. Here’s everything we know so far.
Can you play Pokémon TCG Pocket on PC?
Currently, it’s not possible to officially play Pokémon Pocket on PC. The only official app available is the mobile version, so there’s no official way to switch platforms. As for a possible release on PC, it doesn’t seem to be on the immediate horizon. Considering Pokémon TCG Live is available on both PC and mobile, there’s a chance that Pokémon Pocket could eventually follow suit, but we don’t expect it to happen anytime soon. So, for now, the answer remains no.
However, unofficially, it is possible to play using the emulator Mumu Player 12. Once correctly installed, you can set your region and language and download Pokémon TCG Pocket from within the emulator.
What about Nintendo Switch?
The situation is similar for Nintendo Switch: currently, Pokémon Pocket can’t be played on this console, and we don’t expect that to change. The reason is even more complex since the game’s monetization system, based on packs, doesn’t align with Nintendo’s policies. Because of this, it’s very unlikely that the game will make it to the Switch in the future. Although never say never, we would find it very surprising if this situation changed.
Requirements for iOS and Android (Mobile Phones) to Play Pokémon TCG Pocket
If you haven’t started playing yet and are wondering if your phone meets the requirements, you shouldn’t have too many issues as long as you have a relatively modern device. The requirements are fairly low, only needing around 2 to 3 GB of space to function. For iOS devices, with version 13.0 or later of the operating system and 2 GB of RAM, it should work smoothly.
For Android devices, any version after 7.0 with 3 GB of RAM and a 64-bit processor will be more than sufficient. These requirements don’t demand a very powerful phone, so as we mentioned you shouldn’t have trouble playing on most current devices.
