EA FC 26: differences between the Ultimate and Standard Edition
EA Sports FC 26 launches on September 26, 2025, marking the second installment of the franchise after the split from FIFA. Following the success of FC 25, EA is doubling down on improvements with enhanced gameplay, new HyperMotion animations, a deeper Career Mode, and fresh features in Ultimate Team.
As usual, the game comes in two versions: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. Both offer the full experience, but the Ultimate adds extras aimed at competitive players or those who want to maximize their progress from day one.
Early access: play before everyone else
One of the most noticeable differences is early access.
- The Standard Edition is available starting September 26, the official release date.
- The Ultimate Edition unlocks on September 19, giving you 7 days of early access.
This early advantage is especially valuable for Ultimate Team players who want to start building squads, trading on the market, and climbing divisions ahead of the crowd.
Base content: same game, different perks
When it comes to core content, both editions include the same main game modes:
- Ultimate Team
- Career Mode (Player and Manager)
- Clubs (formerly Pro Clubs)
- Volta Football
Choosing Standard won’t lock you out of any features, but Ultimate comes with rewards that make progression faster and easier.
FC Points and extra rewards
The Ultimate Edition includes 6,000 FC Points, distributed in stages after launch. These can be used to open packs in Ultimate Team, advance through the transfer market, or unlock premium rewards in seasonal content.
The Standard Edition does not provide any additional FC Points, meaning progression is slower unless you purchase them separately.

Premium Season Pass included
Another key difference is the Season Pass.
- Standard Edition: only includes free-tier rewards.
- Ultimate Edition: grants the Premium Season Pass, unlocking additional cards, items, and exclusive rewards from day one.
Permanent ICONs in Career Mode
ICONs are now a staple of EA Sports FC. With the Ultimate Edition, players gain permanent access to ICONs in both Player Career and Manager Career, adding immersion and a unique flavor to Career Mode.
Price difference
The Ultimate Edition comes at a higher price point, but the value can be justified if you’re active in Ultimate Team. Between early access, 6,000 FC Points, the Premium Season Pass, and ICONs, the Ultimate package provides a significant head start.
The Standard Edition is more affordable and perfectly suited for players who just want the complete game without competitive advantages.
Which edition should you choose?
- Standard Edition: best for casual players, Career Mode enthusiasts, or those who enjoy quick matches without caring for extra perks.
- Ultimate Edition: perfect for Ultimate Team fans, competitive players, and those who want early access plus premium rewards.
