Has the new EA FC 25 met expectations?
Since its release in September 2024, EA Sports FC 25 has solidified itself as one of the most popular football simulators on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. In 2024, it was the best-selling video game in Europe, but in 2025, the challenge is to maintain its dominance. To achieve this, EA has implemented one of the biggest mid-season updates in the franchise's history.
Starting January 16, players have been able to experience significant gameplay changes, with over 50 adjustments to key mechanics such as passing, shooting, goalkeeping, and defensive behavior.
Key Changes in the Update
One of the standout improvements is the speed adjustment, preventing defenders from catching up to attackers in a sprint with the ball too easily. Additionally, offensive AI has been improved, allowing AI-controlled players to make better runs and provide smarter attacking support.
Another major change is ball recovery management. From now on, defenders who anticipate correctly will send the ball to a teammate instead of leaving it in dangerous areas.
To clarify these updates, producers Kantcho Doskov and Rory Hilson have scheduled a Twitch broadcast on Friday the 17th at 9:00, where they will explain all the changes in detail.

The Challenge of Maintaining the Lead
Despite being the best-selling title of 2024, EA Sports FC 25 has experienced a 5% drop in sales compared to its predecessor, EA Sports FC 24. This decline reflects a broader trend in the industry, where game sales grew only 1% in Europe, while console sales fell by 21%.
With these improvements, EA hopes to retain its player base and address community feedback by offering a smoother and more realistic experience.
